National Summit on Family Courts
The National Summit on Family Courts was successfully conducted on March 12, 2010, at the renowned Manila Hotel. Family Court judges from all over the country, selected branch clerks of court, interpreters, social workers, prosecutors, public attorneys, representatives from the Executive and Legislative Departments, civil society groups, international organizations and media were duly represented, with the aspiration to strengthen the Multi-Sectoral Framework for the Protection of Family, Women and Children.

The summit was designed to integrate the three regional symposiums previously held by the Academy and the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary. The keynote speaker was no other than the Chief Justice, Hon. Reynato Puno, who untiringly encouraged the stakeholders to uphold and protect the rights of women and children. Senator Pia Cayetano spoke on Law Reforms for a Gender-Sensitive Judiciary. She mentioned that involvement of women in Philippine legal courts should be increased to address the needs of women. Justice Flerida Ruth Romero gave the History of Family Courts in the Philippines while acknowledging the valuable contributions of the late Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma and former President Corazon Aquino.
Supreme Court Justice Conchita Carpio Morales, Chairperson of the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary, gave the synthesis consisting of action points, proposals and recommendations for the protection of the rights and promotion of the welfare of women and children.
